Bumbu Rum The Original Barbados Rum is a tasty, artisanal rum, distilled and aged by "West Indies Rum Distillery", according to the original recipe dating from the 17th century, used by Caribbean sailors. The distillery, located on the island of Barbados, uses sugar cane from the Caribbean and South America as well as native spices. During fermentation and distillation in their alembics with continuous columns, they add a yeast strain that dates back to 1840. The 15-year ageing takes place in old casks. ' Bumbu" was the name given to Caribbean rum in which sailors and traders added fruits and spices to enliven the flavor. A rum that can be drunk alone with ice cubes or as a citrus cocktail.
