Legend has it that this drink made from aromatic plants, honey and whiskey was the favorite drink of ancient Irish clan leaders. Its recipe would have passed from generation to generation and then would have been lost in the seventeenth century with the massive immigration of the Irish in the rest of Europe.

In 1940, a traveler would have found the recipe for this heather wine in an old manuscript and Desmond E. Willimas, the owner of the Tullamore distillery, would have been inspired to create his Irish Mist in 1947.

It is the very first liqueur produced in Ireland and is distinguished by its unique sweetness and warmth resulting from the combination of Irish whiskey with gourmet notes of honey and spices.
