Ron Abuelo is produced in Panama by the company Varela Hermanos SA, founded in 1908 when Don Jose Varela Blanco launched the first sugar factory. This family-owned company began distilling sugar cane juice for liqueur production in 1935. Even today, the company produces a wide range of products covering more than one million liqueurs including a large variety of rum. Ron Abuelo is simply a brand of this wide range.

The 15-year-old Oloroso Abuelo Sherry Cask Finish is part of the distillery’s 15th Collection trilogy, which wanted to highlight its expertise in aging rum.  It is a 15-year-old rum that has been finished in old Oloroso barrels.
