This whisky takes its name from the Mull of Oa located in the southwest of Islay which protects the region from a harsh Atlantic climate

Therefore, An Oa was developed with the aim of highlighting a more affordable side of Ardbeg single malt with a whisky having both the roundness of the Oa peninsula without losing the style of the Ardbeg distillery.

It has been aged in different barrels including burnt oak barrels having contained Pedro Ximenez or bourbon before being reassembled.
