La Roncaia Refosco 2012 Colli Orientali DOC, red wine from Italy made with 100% of the native variety «Refosco Dal Peduncolo Rosso» from the municipality of Nimis. Refosco is an ancient family of dark-skinned grape varieties and originated, before the modern era of political borders, from northern Italy (Friuli-Venezia Giulia), western Slovenia and the Istrian peninsula in Croatia.
The soil of the vine is in marl ground of eocene origin and the vineyard is planted with 4.200 vines per hectare according to the system of pruning Guyot. The Guyot pruning system, named after Dr. Jules Guyot, a 19th century French scientist, each vine has one cane preserved every year for generation in the next years and a spur for production of the replacement cane.
