Nikka Super Rare Old Nikka Whisky is a blend whisky that contains a high proportion of malt whisky distilled in the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries as well as grain whiskies from other distilleries of the group. It has been bottled at 43% ABV and one of the best-selling since its introduction on the market in 1962. In 2015, he was awarded the gold medal at the «World Whisky Awards» competition.

The Yoichi distillery is located in the south of Hokkaido and is surrounded on three sides by mountains. Yoichi has its own cooperage and is particularly careful when selecting its barrels, which are made on site with local oak. Yoichi produces bold Highland style whiskies.

Master distillers decided to restart the production of this whisky, created in 1962 by Masataka Taketsuru in tribute to Rita, the love of his life. They bought and tested one of the rare 1962 «Super Nikka» bottles kept in a private collection. Then they aged, mixed and tested until they got the same beautiful whisky. It is heavier, thicker and more faithful to the original than more commercial bottles. Its lush aroma, light peat notes and fragrance of aged sherry barrels are in harmony, its flavor is supple, rounded and well balanced.
